Black, White & Mocha Spring St. Michael the Archangel Kansas City Wedding : Phillip & Katie
Phil and Katie crossed paths during their time at The University of Kansas. They first met in December 2013 right before Christmas Break. It was Phil’s sweetness and sense of humor that initially caught Katie’s eye when they were first introduced. The next few months were filled with lots of KU basketball games, snow days, and dinner dates. They quickly learned they had many common interests and knew this was something special. Phil’s job with Frito Lay moved him out to Lynchburg, VA in the Summer of 2016. After 2 months of a long distance relationship, Phil flew back to Kansas City to surprise Katie and ask a very exciting question. Katie’s sister Betsy called her and told her she had car trouble and needed a ride ASAP. Being the loving sister she is, Katie quickly left work to meet Betsy. Expecting to find Betsy with a flat tire, Katie instead met Phil and she quickly had her suspicions about what would happen next. Phil asked Katie for her hand in marriage on a Friday night at sunset with the Kansas City skyline as a backdrop. She was so excited to see him and quickly answered “YES!” Next, they met their families and close friends for a gathering where they laughed and celebrated all night! I met up with the ladies at parlor salon in Leawood, Kansas where they were putting the finishing touches on their hair and makeup. It was a blast. We then ventured over to St Michael the Archangel Catholic parish, the church that Katie’s family calls home. This church is always so spectacular! The guys all gathered in the basement of St Michael’s while they got ready. Katie was stunning in her dress! I loved the lace on the top! Shortly after Katie’s sister and mother helped her in her wedding gown it was time to walk down the aisle to her hubby! These two were so excited to see each other! Phil got the biggest smile on his face when he saw Katie. Their ceremony was beautiful and Father Matt delivered a delightful homily. After these two said “I do” we met everyone who attended the wedding outside for a quick few photos! I love all the joy in everyones face! They were finally married! The bridal party then went to Liberty Memorial for some photos with the beautiful KC skyline! I love this view of KC, it takes my breath away every time. Katie & Phillip were so cute together! These two were so excited to be married! The reception was held in the basement of St Michael’s and they did a fantastic job transforming the space! Their reception was so much fun and i loved their sparkler sendoff at the end of the night! Congrats you two! Hope you enjoyed your honeymoon!!
Green & Gold The Lodge at Ironwoods Kansas City Wedding : Clay & Beth
Beth and Clay have known each other since they were in the third grade. Actually, Clay played on Beth’s Uncle Matt’s soccer team with her cousin, Ben. Years and years of playing soccer together brought them together and they became friends in high school. One night after studying, Clay asked Beth to be his girlfriend. Attending different universities and the distance that comes with it did nothing to stifle their love. Beth went off to UMKC to pursue nursing while Clay went to Missouri State University. Finally, last Fall, Clay moved to Kansas City to start the dental program at UMKC and to be with Beth. In January, Clay surprised Beth with a proposal with the help from her dog, Rocco. After being together for 7 years they were finally ready to be married. Beth and Clay said “I do” on a beautiful spring day. Their wedding was the day after St. Patrick’s day so naturally they incorporated that into their décor. It was so great. The ladies wore green dresses and the men had green shamrock tie clips. The girls had so much fun getting ready and there was so much palpable joy in the room that Beth’s day was here. It was amazing seeing all these friends supporting her. The gentlemen got ready while they watched the game and they had a great time. Beth and Clay shared their first look on the patio and you could see the excitement starting to build. These two high school sweethearts were finally going to tie the knot!! Our first stop was at the Prairie Fire Museum. The wedding colors complemented the colors of the museum perfectly. It was amazing. From there, we went to my favorite location in Overland Park. St. Michael’s the Archangel Parish has the most beautiful architecture and the lines complement any bride & groom perfectly. Next, we sauntered over to the Lodge at Ironwoods where the reception was held. I loved all of the St. Patrick’s Day themed decorations. From the bells of Ireland to the floral arrangements to the signs, they had it all. The reception was beautiful and unlike anything I had ever seen. Halfway through the ceremony, everyone sang “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley together and it was such a cool moment. After their ceremony, they shared a champagne toast on the patio with their bridal party and parents. Their reception was so much, the live band kept the dance floor packed all night! Our Bathroom Renovation!
I am so excited to finally share our bathroom remodel!! When we bought this home we knew the shower didn’t work and that the bathroom would need some work. Little did we know that in order to fix the shower we would have to knock out all the tile. So what started as a small project turned into a whole bathroom renovation, ha! We reached out to Mission Kitchen & Bath to help us with this project and I’m so glad we did! We had Bob as our project manager & Scott as our contractor. Bob and Scott were such a fantastic team and helped me through the whole process! Since this was our first renovation there were A LOT of questions! Ha! Below are some of the before images! When we purchased the home there was a large black mirror in the bathroom that covered up that spot where the two tiles are missing. Our lesson here? Move EVERYTHING before you close on the home! The faucet below is a new (dirty) one that Adam installed shortly after we moved in. This little improvement went a long way!! This bad boy below on the left was the culprit of all this craziness. We got SO lucky with this flooring that the previous owners had installed so we had to keep it. This hexagon tile is alllll the heart eye emojis Heres a few during photos! They are iPhone photos so please don’t judge! And the after!!!!!! We decided to stay simple with the design. Clean, classic, simple. I love this subway tile with the dark gray grout. It adds so much contract and dimension to a basic tile. And of course Slugger & Belle had to make an appearance. They LOVE the new bathroom! During construction we had the opportunity to remove the soffit and I’m so glad we did!! It brought so much light and space to the room. And this new light fixture! So pretty!! We also put in a 4 plug outlet. Being the only outlet in the bathroom we needed to have plenty of space to plug in everything! While we were researching bathroom fans we ran across a bluetooth fan & speaker. I didn’t even know this was a thing but I knew we needed it! This product was so new the electrician & contractor had never seen one. We are so in LOVE with our new bathroom! We are sad to leave it but know the new owners of this home will love it as much as we do.
